Testimonials:

We have been coming to Cascade Crossfit for about 5 months now.  Both of us have always worked out and thought we were in good shape until we started Crossfit!  Thanks to Kyle and Tenny and everyone at Cascade Crossfit – we are now in the best shape we have ever been in!  Every workout is different so we never get bored…everyone is friendly and supportive.  We also love that all the members of Cascade Crossfit are at different fitness levels – so all members are challenged and inspired – at the same time!  Another important thing to note is that the trainers always take time to make sure that we know HOW to do the workout before we start.  Thanks Cascade Crossfit for helping us achieve our workout goals – we could never go back to a “regular” gym.

“I’ve been coming to Cascade CrossFit for a little over a month now and couldn’t be happier with the results. Kyle and Dean are very knowledgeable trainers and are very motivating to be around. They have designed the perfect gym which helps implement their workouts which has got me in the best shape of my life a lot quicker then I had ever imagined. The combination of Dean’s olympic lifting background with Kyle’s Met-Con background creates the perfect workout! I look forward every day to my workout and the other members are great to be around and workout with. Every other gym I feel like I’m paying too much and not getting anything back.  Cascade Crossfit is by far the most affordable and largest gym of its kind around. My wife who was pregnant, also was able to stay in great shape during and after her pregnancy. I would never recommend any other gym besides Cascade Crossfit!”

I want to thank Kyle, Dean and Tenny for what they’ve put together at the Cascade Crossfit. You guys have been incredible coaches and motivators. You’ve created a family/team environment that I’ve fallen in love with. The workouts are brutal, but I love how they make me feel when I’m done. It’s an incredible feeling. I can’t thank you guys enough for how positively you’ve influenced my life. I’m addicted. :)

It’s hard to even begin to explain what Cascade Crossfit has done for me.  I entered the gym for the 1st time, overweight and very out of shape.  I started so slow, doing a modified workout every time.  My goal was simply to finish.  The people and trainers were so encouraging.  Some even running or rowing with me even after they’d finished their workout.  I notice changes in my body both in strength and shape.  I’d gotten to the point that my body couldn’t wait to go back in to the gym.  It didn’t take long for everyday tasks to become easier.  Now, I no longer do a modified workout and my goal has become to not come in last.  It has given me such confidence that now I am even training to run a 5k with my son.  I know I can do it!  Thank you to all the trainers and members.  I expect to continue seeing improvement in myself and everybody.

I’ve been only doing CrossFit for about a month and so far it’s been amazing. I’ve worked out on my own for most of my “workout” life as well as at gyms, but this is something different. I’ve known of CrossFit and even incorporated some of their core ideals and workouts into my workout routines but it is not the same as coming to Cascade CrossFit. The atmosphere is the first thing you notice. You come in and everybody is friendly and smiling. Then you get to the workouts and everybody is doing the same thing and motivating each other to keep pushing. It just becomes addicting, it’s something hard to explain. You just keep wanting to come back even after you’re whole body is sore. It is for sure the most effective workout that anybody can get.

I have always been a very active athletic guy.  During college, I played men’s volleyball at WSU for a very competitive team coming in third at college nationals my senior year. After college, I continued to play in the Puget Sound Region going to open nationals.  All this to say that I have always been competitive.  In March 2009 while taking an approach on the volleyball court, I completely ruptured my Achilles tendon.  This was one of those injuries I would hear about and cringe.  It was as bad as I imagined.

Surgery was done to reattach my Achilles but I was not able to put any weight on my right leg for 12 weeks.  I was told that people don’t come back from these injuries and play at the same level they did before, especially at 34 years old.  I wasn’t in the best shape of my life going into this and then to be down for 12 weeks really knocked me down.  It was 6 months after the injury before I was able to walk without a noticeable limp.  There was no jumping possible and I began to think that maybe it was time to give up my sports and focus on my kids’ events.

Then in the end of February of 2010, I got a call from an old volleyball buddy asking me to play with their team this year.  Nationals were in Phoenix the end of May and they were planning on going.  After talking it through with my wife, I decided why not try.  I could at least benefit the team by playing back row but I was unsure what was going to happen.  Was I going to enjoy playing if I couldn’t play at the level I remembered?

I played in my first tournament just two weeks later.  It was rough.  My stamina was so bad that I couldn’t play complete games.  I had to sub out when I rotated into the front row.  Not just because I had no vertical but because I couldn’t breathe.  I was so out of shape and carrying an extra 35lbs.  It was just after that tournament that a friend told us about Cascade Crossfit.  When I heard the way crossfit worked and that I could try it for two weeks free, I was in.

My first workout with Dean ended a little earlier than planned.  After one set of box jumps, I nearly passed out.  I had to sit for 30 minutes before I could even drive home.  I was back the next day.  I loved the fact that I was pushing myself to the limit and competing against the clock.  Day two was a workout that combined lots of running and burpees, two things that are my nemesis to this day, but I finished.  I continued going 4 days a week and even got my wife to start.

Fast forward to May.  I had played in two other one day tournaments between the first and now.  Each one was better than the last but nationals were a whole different ballgame; three full days of volleyball.  Not only did I make it through the tournament, people couldn’t tell I ruptured my Achilles unless I told them and showed them the scar.  I was able to be the go-to guy on my team as I had back in my college days.

I may not quite be 100% but as long as I continue with crossfit, I know I can get there.  And beside 90% is way better than myself or anyone else ever anticipated.  At 35 years old, I am still a force to be reckoned with on the volleyball court and someday on the WOD board as well.
